Manta Marine was formed in 2016 to design and develop twin hull boats for the recreational and commercial markets. We identified a market for a GRP vessel that could be legally towed on a public highway and launched from a slipway or by using a hoist facility.

Twin hulls have many advantages over a mono hull. Better fuel economy is achieved because twin hulls create less drag through the water enabling the vessel to quickly rise to the plane without needing to apply huge amounts of power. The ride in choppy waters is stable and smooth and the spacing of the hulls reduces rolling. A large deck space is achievable which is an ideal stable platform especially when standing at the edges. Minimal wash is created which makes twin hulls suitable for inland waterways.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Discussions were held with an internationally famous designer and manufacturer of Formula 1 twin hull racing boats, David Burgess. His pedigree includes 47 World Championship winners. Dave has drawn on his endless experience of building twin hull racing boats and applied it to a 6.95mtr  leisure craft. He has supervised all aspects of the development program.

The prototype boats have been rigorously tested in the severe tidal conditions of the Bristol Channel by Jonathan Jones, a World Championship Formula 1 boat driver. Jonathan is also a keen offshore boat fisherman and is delighted with the functionality of the vessels.
